Our founder’s very first Brazilian wax was part of a celebratory spa day—a graduation gift to herself and a smooth send-off to grad school.

It turned into a 116-minute ordeal that ended in patches, hot inflamed skin, and literal tears.

That sticky situation made two things clear:

1) Her body hair didn’t lay down flat under a coat of honey,

2) ingrown-prone skin required a different kind of care.

She ditched her grad school plans to study esthetics and train in environments where textured body hair is the norm. She completed esthetics school in the diverse southern metropolis of Atlanta, refined her waxing skills in Caribbean salons and resorts, and partnered with West African labs to create inclusive hair removal systems.

By the time VAVAVOOM launched in a private Atlanta basement in 2013, the mission was clear: create a waxing experience that actually works for all hair types, all skin types, and all bodies—without the trauma.

From that space to pop-ups around the world, VAVAVOOM has served thousands of VOOMERS with thoughtful services, curated products, and community-centered experiences that go far beyond the wax table. People come for the swift, thorough hair removal and stay for the VOOMERHOOD.

After a brief break in 2025, VAVAVOOM is now in 1526 EAST FORREST AVENUE, EAST POINT, GA 30344 (opening May 4, 2026) and at 3 LILY STREET, EAST LEGON IN ACCRA, GHANA (reopening after the 2026 rainy season). We can’t wait to have you join us!
